【摘要】:Aluminumoxidepelletsareusedinareactorcoreasfillerorspacerswithinfuel,burnablepoison,orcontrolrods.Inordertobesuitableforthispurpose,thematerialmustmeetcertaincriteriaforimpuritycontent.ThesetestmethodsaredesignedtoshowwhetherornotagivenmaterialmeetsthespecificationsfortheseitemsasdescribedinSpecificationC785.3.1.1Impuritycontentisdeterminedtoensurethatthemaximumconcentrationlimitofcertainimpurityelementsisnotexceeded.Aluminumoxide-boroncarbidecompositepelletsareusedinareactorcoreasacomponentinneutronabsorberrods.Inordertobesuitableforthispurpose,thematerialmustmeetcertaincriteriaforboroncontent,isotopiccomposition,andimpuritycontentasdescribedinSpecificationC784.3.2.1Thematerialisassayedforborontodeterminewhethertheboroncontentisasspecifiedbythepurchaser.3.2.2Determinationoftheisotopiccontentoftheboronismadetoestablishwhetherthe10Bconcentrationisincompliancewiththepurchaserrsquo;specifications.3.2.3Impuritycontentisdeterminedtoensurethatthemaximumconcentrationlimitofcertainimpurityelementsisnotexceeded.1.1Thesetestmethodscoverproceduresforthechemical,massspectrometric,andspectrochemicalanalysisofnuclear-gradealuminumoxideandaluminumoxide-boroncarbidecompositepelletstodeterminecompliancewithspecifications.1.2Theanalyticalproceduresappearinthefollowingorder:1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.(Forspecificprecautionarystatements,seeSection5.)
